Starting new employees as members

First things first………Ensure you’ve registered with Intrust Super as a contributing employer? If not, please read the “How to Join” section and register today!

Now on to your new starters……………………
Most workplaces hand out a welcome kit to all new employees in their induction or within the first few days of their arrival, the kits usually include all the paperwork that the employee needs to complete to start working. Generally included in these kits is a Member Information Guide for Intrust Super. If your welcome kits for employees don’t contain a Member Information Guide then these will have to be given to any new starters separately.

If an employee is already a member of Intrust Super, they don’t need to complete in a new application form, they simply need to give you their membership number which you can include on you next contribution return.

When completed, collect the applications and check that the Employer Details Section has been filled in, then send the completed applications to Intrust Super. To add employees in the future, simply send in a completed application for each new employee with your contribution return.

An important note to remember is that if an employee has provided you with their Tax File Number (TFN) for employment purposes you must by law pass it onto their super fund. Generally, a TFN is included on the Tax File Number Declaration Form which all employees complete when they first start work.

Please read the Employer Guide for more information on Tax File Numbers.
